NEET, which is an abbreviation for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test is an all India qualifying examination for entrance in various MBBS and BDS colleges of India. NEET was previously AIPMT or All India Pre Medical Test which used to be conducted by CBSE.
NEET has not only replaced AIPMT but also state level pre-medical competitive exams like R-PMT, EAMCET, DPMT etc and is conducted by National Testing Agency or NTA. NEET consists of two parts NEET-UG for under graduate programmes like MBBS, BDS and NEET-PG for post graduate programmes like MS, MD. Unlike JEE exams, NEET is an entrance exam for admission in both the Private and Govt. Medical Colleges all across India. Roughly about 650 Medical and Dental Colleges participate in NEET offering a total of about 90000 seats annually.

NEET is a single stage exam and happens only once a year in a single shift usually from 10 am to 1 pm. The paper consists of questions from within the official syllabus provided by NTA for Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Biotechnology.
